Geert Noppe is a man of two worlds. He is 33.3% Yevgueni and 100% Walrus. On Op De Valreep (2013), the first album of Walrus, he was still strongly trying to keep those two worlds apart. On Terug Naar Het Begin (2015), he sails his own course.
On his albums, Walrus guarantees infectious, varied pop songs in which front man Geert Noppe can carry out his pleas for a variety of turbulence and silent wonder. He is assisted in this by a strong band whose members earned their stripes with groups such as Hooverphonic, Sir Yes Sir, Yevgueni, Slow Pilot, Laïs and others. The original sound with sax and cello, among others, stands out.
In 2023, Walrus is more eager than ever to to treat his audience to his refreshing pop trip with his new album Tussen mijn Oren. In theatres, the contrast between power and silence is emphasized even more. It is not kleinkunst, nor rock, but something in between: refined, alternative pop in cryptic Dutch by which Noppe demarcates a territory. The one of Walrus.
